Virgin Colada is the non-alcoholic version of the famous Piña Colada. For me it’s among the best cocktails in both versions the alcoholic and non-alcoholic, as I love the pineapple – coconut combination. Today’s version is “Virgin”, this word in cocktails always indicates the alcohol-free version of a cocktail, another example is Virgin Daiquiri. You can also find this cocktail under slightly different names, Virgin Colada or Piñita Colada, but be aware that it is always the same drink.
How to Vary the Virgin Colada
The Virgin Piña Colada is a creamy, fresh and truly delicious cocktail. To many it remembers or refers to the Caribbean but being me partly Caribbean it is a cocktail that we say tastes like home.
It is definitely not considered dietary, given the use of coconut cream. I will make you the original one, but if you like this cocktail so much and you think you drink it often, you can halve the amount of coconut cream and use one part of coconut milk or coconut water, or replace it completely with one of the two. The flavor will vary slightly and the creamy texture will certainly become more liquid but it will certainly always be great.
Another way to enjoy Virgin Piña Colada is in the frozen version, which is the one I love the most! In this case you will have to set the Shaker aside and use the blender. Put all the ingredients in the ice blender included (I recommend that you do this only if you have a blender that also crushes the ice otherwise you risk breaking it!). Blend everything until you get a smooth granita and serve in the glass with straws and pineapple garnish.

- Cocktail Glass
- 120 ml Pineapple Juice
- 60 ml Coconut Cream unsweetened
- 30 ml Fresh Cream
- 15 ml Sugar Syrup
- 15 ml Lime Juice
- 2 tbs Ice crushed
Slice of Pineapple to decorate
- Cool the glass with ice.
- In one half of the boston put the ice and in the other half pour the right amount of each ingredient.
- Filter any water created in the part with the ice. Close the shaker e shake vigorously for a few minutes.
- Empty the glass of ice and fill it with crushed ice. Open the shaker and filter the cocktail into the glass. Decorate with the pineapple slice and straws.

You can enjoy this cocktail in a frozen version by blending all the ingredients with ice.
